Jane & Adam

An Australian and an Englishwoman walked into a bar ball*.

Future Shelter is a design studio, manufacturing workshop and retail shop founded by Jane Coffey & Adam Coffey.

Jane is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and has worked extensively as a textile designer in London and overseas. Adam is a mechanical engineer with a background in large-scale waste management and recycling, paired with a passion for lean manufacturing.

They met at a ball in England and fell in love in the early 2000s (*the last and only time Adam wore a bowtie).

So too, there was a spark and synergy between the working worlds of designer and engineer. Leaving the safety of their day jobs behind, Jane & Adam began to create together and travel. They partnered with businesses big and small; across the world and across differing disciplines such as surface graphics, fashion, homewares and packaging.

In 2007, the wanderlust was satiated and a precious new design project ñ their first child ñ was in development. It was the perfect time to cut back on the air miles and immerse themselves fully in their North Perth community.

Future Shelter was founded with a simple focus ñ to design and make the things Jane & Adam like to enjoy in their own home, and the homes of their loved ones.

Not so simple is their quest to champion the importance of 'home' itself - what it is to live local, to celebrate all that is on our doorstep, and to see our own surroundings reflected in what is made for our daily use and happiness.

Jane & Adam love nothing more than to encourage people to connect with our own unique and diverse flora and fauna. To appreciate, commemorate and see natural and built Australian environs protected. They are advocates for adding a little more local into our home habitats. In order to provide shelterfor all of our futures
